REPEAT CLIENTS SET NEW STUD RECORD AT TRIO ANGUS

(As published in the Coolah Diary)

Spirited bidding led to Trio Angus posting a record $9605 average & 100% clearance at their annual bull sale held at Cassilis last month.

Trio Angus co-principle Matt Cherry said the support from repeat buyers was very strong, with 80% of bulls going to existing, local clients in the Cassilis, Coolah, Merriwa & Mudgee areas. "They have been getting excellent results with their Trio genetics, and it was great to have them back looking for more".

The top priced bull was Lot 47. Trio Reality M121, who was purchased for $18,000 by Sprys Angus, Wagga Wagga. Sired by NZ bull, Matauri Reality, he has exceptional EBVs & a great phenotype. He will go on to perform stud duties for the Spry Family.

Turee Vale Partnership, Coolah, secured a strong line up of three bulls on the day. This included the second top priced bull, Lot 3. Trio Uproar M7 for $16,000. M7 was a standout bull in the sale for his maternal strength & strong carcase attributes, making a strong addition to the Martin family's commercial herd. Trio Angus also plans to use the exceptional bull in their stud through AI.

Kintyre Angus Stud, Gunnedah, secured Lot 30. Trio Aberdeen H8, for $14,000. Sired by a homebred Trio bull, Lot 30 offered exceptional muscle & power. Kintyre plans to use him heavily over their stud cows this Spring.

Volume buyers on the day were Scone Pastoral & Cuan Pastoral, who between them took home 13 bulls to average $10,000.

Sons of US sires Hoover Dam & Bruin Uproar were highly sought after on the day with buyers chasing the combination of calving ease & carcase traits these bulls offered. Sons of Millah Murrah H125 were also in high demand for their marbling.

Although the stud was excited to set a new record, co-principle Shelley Piper said "it was also pleasing to see some bulls still selling for $4000 & $5000, which gave buyers the opportunity to upgrade their bulls & buy top genetics at very affordable prices".

Many comments were made on sale day that the performance & quality of the Trio Angus bulls was comparable with other leading Angus studs in the industry. The excellent temperament of the bulls was also recognised, "We pride ourselves on the docility of our herd, temperament is a highly heritable trait that is both convenient & profitable" said Shelley Piper.

Buyers also valued the free delivery service that Trio Angus offers.

The sale was conducted by stud stock specialists, Glasser Total Sales Management, with Michael Glasser as auctioneer.

Co-principles, Matt & Shelley were very pleased with the sale result. "Breeders recognised the leading genetics on offer & seized the opportunity to source them locally which was great to see" the couple said.
