2015 BULL SALE

Thankyou to all the buyers, under bidders & supporters for attending our 2015 Bull Sale. We were very pleased with the result & happy to see bulls priced from $4000 to $12,000 on the day.

Trio Bull Buying Stampede ~ as published in the Merriwa District Diary

Phenomenal competition led to a 100% clearance of the 40 bulls on offer at the Trio Angus On-Property Bull Sale on Thursday. Bulls sold to a top of $12,000 to average $6,450.

The sale topping bull Lot 1 Trio Docklands H1 went to new clients Peter, Jenny & Luke Aisthorpe from Aisthorpe Angus, Monto QLD. The stud sire, by Carabar Docklands D62, weighed 1115kg on sale day & also had several sons in the sale. “We’ve been looking at plenty of sales but this bull was a standout for us. He offered everything we were chasing  - free moving, well muscled & easy doing” said Mr Aishtorpe.

A partnership between MacKander & Mate from Coolah purchased Trio Upward J51, the second top priced bull for $9500. The 24 month old bull weighed 1030kg on sale day & had the best growth rate of all the bulls in the sale.

Sons of US sire Ellingson Scotsman were the most sought after on the day with buyers chasing the combination of calving ease & carcase traits these bulls offered. Sons of Kansas Custer G52 were also in high demand.

Many comments were made at the sale that the performance and preparation of the Trio Angus bulls was comparable to other leading Angus studs in the business. Buyers were also happy to see the performance in the bulls given they were prepared on forage oats with no grain supplement.

Vendors Matt Cherry and Shelley Piper were very pleased with the sale result. ‘A lot of breeders recognised the leading genetics on offer & seized the opportunity to source them locally which was great to see’ Matt said.

The sale, run by Rockwell Livestock & Property, Merriwa, and Galton & Co, Gunnedah, used the Helmsman Selling System. Many bull buyers commented on the benefits of using this alternate selling method to the traditional auction.

Tony Inder from Rockwell Livestock & Property commented "That the Trio Angus draft of bulls were again very consistent and offered a balance of carcase, growth and softness throughout." He went on to say "That the competition during the auction was fierce with solid bidding for a full 40 minutes of the sale. The strong result was a reflection of the quality offering from Trio Angus."
