TRIO ANGUS BULL SALE SETS NEW RECORD

Spirited bidding led to Trio Angus posting a record $7450 average at their annual bull sale held at Cassilis last week.

Trio Angus co-principle Matt Cherry said this years sale draft was the best they had presented to date & gave buyers a true representation of where the studs program is heading. “It was great to see breeders willing to invest in quality genetics to capitalize on the strong cattle market” Matt Said. “Repeat clients have been getting excellent results with their Trio genetics, and it was great to have them back looking for more”.

Repeat client, McMullin Partnership, Scone bid the $13,000 top money for Lot 4. Trio Scotsman K57, a dynamic bull with balanced EBVs & excellent raw data to match. He weighed 930kg on sale day & had one of the best growth rates of all the bulls offered.

James Campbell, Baradine & Lorimer Partnership, Cassilis bid the $11,000 next best money for two other Scotsman sons.

Matt Cherry said the three top priced bulls were all Scotsman sons out of Burnette females & showed exceptional performance & carcase traits. Sons of the US sire were the most sought after on the day with buyers chasing the combination of calving ease & carcase traits these bulls offered. Sons of SAV Birthstone were also popular.

Although the stud was excited to set a new average price record, co-principle Shelley Piper said ‘it was also pleasing to see plenty of bulls still selling in the $4000 to $5000 range, which gave buyers the opportunity to upgrade their bulls & buy top genetics at affordable prices’.

Tony Inder, Rockwell Livestock, was a leading buyer on the day securing a quality line-up of nine bulls for breeders in the Merriwa district. A strong draft of bulls was also put together by local Coolah agent, Paul Banks of Davidson Cameron.

Volume buyers on the day were Cuan Pastoral Company, through Landmark Townsend Scone, & Scone Pastoral Company, who secured 13 bulls between them.

Repeat clients Springvale Pastoral Co & Tureevale Partnership also secured two bulls each, having both received excellent results marketing their Trio Angus blood stock in the recent months.

Many comments were made at the sale that the performance & quality of the Trio Angus bulls was comparable to other leading Angus studs in the business. The excellent temperament of the bulls & free delivery service was also valued.

Co-principles, Matt & Shelley were very pleased with the sale result. ‘Breeders recognised the leading genetics on offer & seized the opportunity to source them locally which was great to see’ Matt said.
